Fine Art Final

My final art piece ended up being a trio of paper bags inspired originally from a soggy, dirty, discarded 'Eat' bag I saw on the ground. I liked the fact it still advertised even though it was litter, and it was still telling people what to do/where to go, even though it was litter.
Whilst walking around on Tuesday i noticed how all the adverts and signs for shops are constantly competing to win your attention by being the biggest or brightest or most colourful, and eventually they just all end up looking the same and merging into one. I wanted to show this through my photos which i took unfocused and blurry to represent the way all the adverts and signs end up looking like a merged blur. I covered one of the paper bags with these photos, creasing it up and tearing holes in it to make it look worn and damaged.
Inspired also by a quote from 'Fight Club' by Chuck Palahniuk, "The things you own end up owning you." I wanted to show how people, the consumers, base their lives around buying material things and that it's not actually the people choosing and deciding, it's the products luring them in, which led me to stick my photos of people inside the bags. Which may be 'too literal' in showing the products end up owning you, but i don't see why messages through art always have to be so hidden and complicated and metaphorical.

i won't explain any more of the bags because i guess it'll probably take away that essence of the multiple interpretations from different people. So, yeah, there you go. I like them but I would've liked to have done more like maybe paint more or something, not that I had the time.
